Karen Meldrum Beaver

Karen Meldrum Beaver

Karen brings a stellar career in statistical services and guidance to her role as trainer and consultant for DATA. Starting as a statistician at Ford Motor Company in 1993, she has continued sharing her statistical expertise through training, mentoring, and consulting with Minitab, Inc and through her own consulting firm, KM Optimal, Inc. Today she works with engineers, scientists, and quality control professionals in many industries including aerospace, automotive, oil and medical devices. Karen holds a variety of degrees including a Master of Science in Applied Statistics, a Master of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics.  

In the Detroit area, Karen has trained with Ford Motor Coompany, Daimler-Chrysler (FCA), Stryker, Terumo, Alcoa and others. Key nationwide clients include:

Lou Johnson

Lou Johnson

Lou brings 30 years of process engineering and statistical consulting experience to his role as a trainer and consultant for DATA.  As a Master Black Belt for Corning, Inc., he led a Six Sigma deployment that significantly increased productivity and reduced costs. Since then, at Minitab Inc., he has consulted and trained with over 100 companies, from Arrow to Xerox. He is the author of over 75 training manuals, papers and conference presentations on Lean Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, Quality Tools and Statistical Analysis for engineers.  Lou holds degrees in Chemistry, Education, Chemical Engineering and Statistics as well as Black Belt and Master Black Belt certification from ASQ.  

In the Pittsburgh area, Lou has trained with U.S. Steel, Vocollect Inc, PPG Industries, Bayer and others. Key nationwide clients include:

Jim Colton
Technical and Strategic Adviser

Jim has dedicated his career to developing creative and technically sound solutions to complex data analysis problems.  Over the last 20 years, Jim worked with Minitab sharing his experience and expertise with thousands of practitioners at over 100 companies. He specializes in reliability analysis and working with FDA regulated industries.  He has also worked as a statistician at Kellogg’s, Pratt & Whitney, and Aerojet-Rocketdyne.   He holds master’s degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology (applied statistics) and Ohio State University (theoretical statistics).

In the Los Angeles area, Jim has trained with Dentsply, Intuitive Surgical, Clorox, Zimmer Biomet and more.  Key nationwide clients include:

Joel Johnson
Technical Adviser

Joel Johnson is a Consultant/Professor of Mathematics at the College of Southern Nevada. He received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Kentucky concentrating on clinical trials for pharmaceutical development.  Combining 10 years' experience in SAS programming and data analysis with IBM and Eli Lilly with a BS degree in Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts, Joel has a unique understanding of the science and statistics of biomedical research. He contributes to DATA’s training material development and consulting in drug development and delivery.
